Now that we’ve settled in for the winter, we are setting our sights on our next big project – the kitchen.
The current kitchen is inexplicably strange… more on that in another post. It requires photos and a full tour for a proper explanation. Briefly, we plan on swapping where the current kitchen and dining room are located.
Keeping with the idea of making everything as original as possible, or at least bringing in antique furnishings when the originals are already gone, we acquired a set of 1930’s kitchen cabinets off Craigslist for only $80!

The first set of “uppers” recently came back from the contractor we hired to strip them. Check out what was lying beneath all those old layers of paint!
I just love the patterning on the wood.
Once the weather gets a little warmer, we will stain them and put the trim back on. We can’t wait to see how they turn out!
